Engineered board, said out loud
Why we name the material every other retailer hides, and why it is the right call at this price.

Every desk we make is E1 engineered board, not solid timber. We say that on the product page, in the specs, and here. It is not a confession, it is the reason the desk is good.
Solid timber moves. It cups, it splits along the grain, and in a room that swings from an evening heater to a summer afternoon it does that within a year. Engineered board does not. It stays dead flat across a two metre span, holds an edge band tight, and takes a low sheen finish evenly.
The honest part is the price. The same board sells elsewhere for $2,400 under the phrase premium hardwood construction. That phrase means nothing. We would rather name the material and let the desk make the argument at $1,349 to $1,899.
If you want solid timber, buy solid timber, and budget about $4,900. That is a real product with real trade-offs. It is just not this one.
